In the detention center, Kumarbek Abdyrov, suspected of committing a series of murders, including the brutal crime against 17-year-old Aysulu M., was found hanged. This information was provided by sources in law enforcement agencies, reports Vesti.kg.
Preliminary data suggests that Abdyrov may have committed suicide.
So far, the State Penitentiary Service (GPS) has not commented on the situation.
Brief information: Aysulu M. went missing on September 27, 2022, in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region while heading to her friend in Jenish. Surveillance cameras recorded the girl getting into a Honda Stream vehicle.
The investigation suggests that the suspect took Aysulu to an apple orchard, where he raped and then killed her. To cover up the crime, he attempted to dispose of the evidence and dumped the body in the Boom Gorge.
Kumarbek Abdyrov was detained in Bishkek. He had previous convictions for robbery and attempted murder.
Shortly after his arrest, he confessed to the murders of several women. The press secretary of the president, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, reported this on his social media page, accompanying the post with video material from the ElTR television channel.
According to the investigation, Abdyrov may be involved in at least six attacks, four of which ended in murder. Law enforcement agencies do not rule out that the total number of victims may be significantly higher.
The criminal case is still under investigation.
