The press service of the GKNB reported on December 30 about the detention of two police officers in connection with the murder of 47-year-old Zhibek Urustemova.
The woman, a resident of Bishkek, was shot dead by her ex-husband — U.B.M., who previously worked as an inspector in the State Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on her birthday, December 23.
After the tragedy, three of her sons were left without a mother, two of whom are elementary school students.
This crime has caused a wide public outcry, and the investigation of the criminal case is now under the control of the GKNB.
According to the GKNB, an investigative operational group has been formed, focusing on determining the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of this serious crime.
According to the investigation, the deceased had a protection order indicating a high level of threat to her life and health. However, the district police officer of the Sverdlovsk district did not respond to numerous requests for help from the woman, which raises questions about his actions to ensure the safety of the KAU teacher and her children.
The GKNB also reported that after Urustemova's murder, the district officer J.N. forged reports of allegedly conducted checks at the residence of the suspect retroactively to cover up his inaction.
Additionally, it was revealed that the senior inspector of the SOB of the Bishkek GUVD A.K. illegally extended the permit for the possession and carrying of a traumatic pistol for the accused, despite the fact that the permit had expired at the time of the murder.
On December 29, criminal cases were initiated against the detained police officers, and GKNB employees, together with the SVR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, were placed in custody in the IVS of the GKNB detention center by the decision of the Lenin District Court.
The investigation continues, and the behavior of all responsible law enforcement officials will be thoroughly examined to provide an appropriate legal assessment of their actions.
