This crime, which caused grief and loss for the relatives and loved ones of the deceased, has attracted wide public interest, partly due to the accused's previous profession, as he had previously worked in law enforcement.
The highest leadership of the country has already expressed its position on this incident, which undermines the foundations of public safety and family values, emphasizing the need for a serious legal assessment of the tragedy.
During the investigation, the GKNB uncovered new facts regarding the temporary protection order that the deceased had, as well as the illegal possession and storage of traumatic weapons by the accused, which were used to commit the crime.
At present, the suspect is in custody and has been transferred to the GKNB pre-trial detention center, where he will remain throughout the investigative process.
It is worth noting that this tragic event occurred on December 23. According to law enforcement information, in a state of alcohol intoxication, the man shot his ex-wife on her birthday. The couple had three children together.
The suspect, a former police officer who retired in 2019, had recently been working as a trainer in a gym. He had a permit for weapon possession, obtained after his retirement.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the murder, the suspect has been detained, and is currently held in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.
The head of the Bishkek City Police Department, Azamat Toktonaliev, commenting on the incident, noted that alcohol was the cause of the murder. He emphasized that the situation could have turned out differently if it were not for this factor and the victim's birthday. Furthermore, according to him, the suspect came to his ex-wife with a cake and flowers, and she willingly went with him. However, it later turned out that the cake and bouquet were given to her by students from the Kyrgyz Economic University, who congratulated her on her birthday.
Kamchybek Tashiev, the head of the GKNB, and Ombudsman Jamila Jamambaeva stated that no circumstances can justify the brutal murder of a mother of three children.
