Mikhail Efremov, a Russian actor, will make his first appearance on stage after serving his sentence in a penal colony related to a tragic car accident at the end of March. He will participate in the play "Without Witnesses," based on the play by Sofia Prokofyeva "Conversation Without a Witness," which will take place at the "Workshop '12'" theater of Nikita Mikhalkov. The premiere is scheduled for March 25 and 26, according to the theater's website.

The plot of the production focuses on former spouses who unexpectedly meet alone after many years of separation. The director of the play is Nikita Mikhalkov, and the set designer is Yuri Kupriyanov.

The play will represent a psychological drama.

The road incident involving Mikhail Efremov occurred on June 8, 2020, on the Garden Ring in Moscow, when his Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Lada Granta, driven by 57-year-old internet shop courier Sergey Zakharov. As a result of the accident, the driver was extracted from the car unconscious and with severe injuries, but he could not be saved.

According to the medical examination, alcohol was found in the actor's blood. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison, which was later reduced to 7.5 years.

One of the victims, the son of the deceased, Vitaly Zakharov, filed a lawsuit against Mikhail Efremov for 7 million rubles, but the court reduced this amount to 800,000.
