Torobaev presented information on preparations for spring fieldwork in the Jogorku Kenesh
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev reported a significant decrease in the volume of water in the country's reservoirs compared to the previous year.
Currently, Kyrgyzstan has 498 reservoirs, with a total designed capacity of 1 billion 750 million cubic meters. However, the actual volume of water is only 939 million cubic meters, which is 32% lower than last year.
Torobaev also noted that in 2026, it is planned to sow 1 million 250 thousand hectares of arable land, of which 885 thousand hectares will be irrigated. To ensure this irrigation, which is planned to be conducted on average 4–5 times, about 6 billion 300 million cubic meters of water will be required.
