Kapalov also reported on the development of a draft law that proposes tightening the measures of responsibility for alimony debtors.
“We plan to introduce administrative arrest for non-payers for a period of three to seven days. In addition, there is an article in the Criminal Code that allows for imprisonment for a term of one to three years. The draft law has already passed its first reading in the Jogorku Kenesh,” he noted.
The amount of alimony, as Kapalov pointed out, varies depending on the salary and region of residence of the debtors. “If a person is unemployed, the average monthly salary in the given area is taken into account. In Tokmok, for example, the amount of alimony for one child averages from 7,000 soms, depending on the number of children,” he added.
It should be noted that the draft law from the Prosecutor General's Office “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts in the Field of Enforcement Proceedings” provides for the introduction of the institution of private bailiffs and the strengthening of penalties for those who do not pay alimony.
