At the parliamentary meeting on February 12, the Jogorku Kenesh approved amendments to several legislative acts concerning gender equality. As a result, a decision was made to introduce a gender quota in the civil service.

According to the new amendments, when appointing members of the cabinet of ministers, a limitation must be observed, whereby no more than 70% of representatives of one gender can hold these positions. The same conditions will apply when selecting judges for the Constitutional, Supreme, and local courts. Additionally, similar requirements have been introduced for the appointment of mayors and akims, as well as for employment in the civil service.

It should be noted that the initiators of the bill were deputies of the VII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Among the authors of the bill are deputies such as Kamila Talieva, Nurlanbek Azygaliev, Chingiz Aydarbekov, Janarbek Akayev, and Mederbek Aliyev, as well as many others, including Seidbek Atambaev, Dinara Ashimova, Dastan Bekeshev, Gulshan Kultaev, and others.
