In the Naryn region, in the Kochkor district, a series of events were held dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. The festive program included official events, cultural, and educational activities.

The celebrations began at the memorial to internationalist soldiers, where participants laid wreaths and held a memorial prayer. The program then moved to the "Cholpon" cinema, where veterans received greetings from representatives of the district administration and the military commissariat. As a recognition of their merits to the country, veterans were awarded honorary prizes, and artists from the district House of Culture presented a festive concert to the audience.

An important part of the event was a visit to the district museum, where veterans familiarized themselves with a unique exhibition dedicated to the events in Afghanistan. The exhibition features archival photographs and documents from those years.

From 1979 to 1989, 70 citizens from the Kochkor district were sent to fulfill their international duty, 20 of whom were drafted from outside the district. This war had a significant impact on the history of the region.

Unfortunately, four young fighters did not return from the battlefields: Arstanbek Asanov, Zarylbek Berdaliev, Sherimbek Ibraev, and Tynarbek Soltonkulov.

Many veterans passed away during peacetime due to injuries and illnesses sustained during their service.

Currently, there are 24 veterans of the Afghan war registered at the military commissariat of the Kochkor district.
