Today, an international patriotic action "Blockade 872" took place in Bishkek, dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade.

According to the ANO "Eurasia," representatives of various public organizations, government structures, veterans, schoolchildren, and students participated in the event.

As part of the action, commemorative, educational, and cultural events were held in Bishkek. In Victory Park, with the support of the Kyrgyz Society of Blockade Survivors, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers took place with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic and a military orchestra.

The event was dedicated to the memory of the residents of Blockade Leningrad, who endured the siege for 872 days and became a symbol of mass civilian heroism during the Great Patriotic War.

During World War II, Kyrgyzstan accepted more than 16,000 Leningrad residents, including about 3,500 children. The residents of the republic also collected and sent over 100 wagons of food and warm clothing to the besieged city.

The main goal of the "Blockade 872" action is to preserve historical memory and develop humanitarian dialogue between the countries of Eurasia. Special attention within the project is given to working with youth and supporting veteran blockade survivors.

“The blockade, liberation, and restoration of Leningrad is our common history. In the trenches, shoulder to shoulder stood the sons of all nations, and the fraternal republics became a second home for thousands of evacuees, extending a helping hand in the darkest hour. Our goal is simple: to preserve this connecting history and the values of the victorious people. As long as we remember the heroism of our grandfathers, they live in our hearts, and we are united and strong,” said Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshev.

In addition, a play about the lives of the peaceful residents of Blockade Leningrad was presented at the Eurasian Center for the Russian Language, opened in Bishkek. A memory action "Blockade Bread" also took place. Courage lessons dedicated to the events of the blockade and the significance of Victory were held in more than 50 school classrooms across the country.
