In the USA, a collectible Pokémon card was sold for $16 million

The most expensive Pokémon card in history.
This card was released in 1998 in a limited quantity — only 39 copies, and was intended for a Pokémon illustration contest.

The auction took place at Goldin for 42 days and ended on February 16. Interestingly, by the end of the auction, the starting price was $6.882 million, but then new bids sharply increased the final amount to $16.492 million, including fees.

After the auction concluded, Paul expressed his astonishment: "This is insane!" — as confetti rained down on him. At that moment, Sarah Casson from Guinness World Records appeared on stage to confirm that this was a record price for a collectible card at auction.

The auction winner was A.J. Scaramucci, a venture investor and son of the well-known financier Anthony Scaramucci, who also served as the White House Communications Director. He shared his intention to "collect something uncollectible" and already has ambitious plans, including the purchase of a fossilized Tyrannosaurus skeleton and the Declaration of Independence.
