According to the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, CDL can be obtained or renewed by:
- citizens of the United States;
- green card holders (permanent residents of the USA);
- foreigners with work visas valid in the USA;
It is important to note that having a work permit (EAD) and a Social Security Number (SSN) is not a sufficient condition for obtaining or renewing a CDL if the applicant does not have the appropriate immigration status recognized by U.S. federal authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan strongly recommends that citizens clarify the requirements in the relevant state authorities in advance, monitor the validity of necessary documents, and consider possible changes in federal regulations.
