According to the information from the agency, contractors have already begun dismantling the old metal barriers on both sides of the bridge. Work is also underway to mill and clean the worn asphalt.
Additionally, earthworks are ongoing on the section of the road from the bridge to Jibek Jolu Avenue, which include the relocation of power supply and communication lines.
Due to the ongoing work, the section of the highway has been closed to traffic since February 15 and will remain closed until April 20. Drivers and local residents are asked to take these restrictions into account when planning their trips.
The length of the Lebedinovka — GES-5 route is 5.1 kilometers. After the completion of all work, the road will be expanded from two to four lanes. The project also includes the installation of lighting, the construction of new sidewalks on both sides of the bridge, and the creation of a separate pedestrian crossing.
The goal of the modernization is to increase the road's capacity and reduce traffic load in the northern part of Bishkek.
