He reminded that the bridge has been closed since the end of September 2025 due to its emergency condition. The reconstruction plans include a complete replacement of the load-bearing elements and the expansion of the roadway. Janbolotov explained why the work only started at the end of the year.
“At the beginning of the season, we had plans for the construction and reconstruction of three bridges – on Shukurova Street, Auezov Street, and Jibek Jolu Avenue. If we had started repairs on all the facilities at the same time, it would have led to serious problems. At that time, work was ongoing on Kurmanjan Datka Street and on the bridge on Auezov Street near Chuy Avenue. If we had closed the bridge on Jibek Jolu Avenue at that time, it would have caused complete chaos. Therefore, we started the repairs exactly when the work on Kurmanjan Datka Street and the bridge on Auezov Street was completed,” he noted.
From September to December, work was carried out on the bridge. The concrete work was completed in December. Currently, the process of gaining strength in the concrete is ongoing. Last week, laboratory tests showed that the required strength has not yet been achieved.
“90% strength is not enough for opening the passage. We cannot just lay asphalt if cracks appear. The bridge must serve for a long time and safely. If we opened it in winter and then precipitation and cracks started, it would lead to criticism. Therefore, it is better to wait a little. Next week, we will begin the laying and concrete work for the installation of curbs and parapets. Weather permitting, the asphalt laying will begin at the end of February - beginning of March, adhering to all technological requirements,” the official concluded.
