A draft law is being discussed in the Russian Federation that proposes the expulsion of migrant children upon reaching adulthood. This project has been submitted to the State Duma and has already been published in the official electronic database.

According to the proposal, lawmakers also intend to consider a ban on issuing patents to migrants whose income is below the established minimum subsistence level. Additionally, under the new rules, upon reaching the age of 18, children of foreign citizens will be required to leave Russia or independently obtain a work permit.

Under the initiative's conditions, migrant children will be allowed to remain in the country only for the duration of their parents' work permit, and provided that the migrant makes a fixed advance payment on income tax for themselves and for each child. Within a month of turning 18, children will need to either leave the country or apply for their own work permit.

Furthermore, this draft law includes a ban on issuing or extending work patents to those migrants whose income does not reach the minimum subsistence level. Applications will be rejected if "the total income of the foreign citizen is less than the minimum subsistence level for themselves and for each family member dependent on them in the Russian Federation, on average per month," the document states.
