The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, through the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine, has announced a tender for the purchase of insecticides to combat locust pests and the American white moth.

According to information posted on the government procurement portal, a budget of 27 million 289.6 thousand soms has been allocated for these purposes.

The deadline for submitting proposals from suppliers is set for March 10.

The products must be delivered to the village of Kozhomkul, located in the Chuy region, within 20 calendar days after the contract is signed.

The American white moth poses a serious threat to more than 250 species of woody and shrub plants. This pest was first recorded in Kyrgyzstan in 2006. Among the plants most vulnerable to it are mulberry, apple, pear, plum, quince, cherry, elderberry, and walnut. The caterpillars of the moth are highly voracious: with 8-10 egg masses on an average-sized tree, complete leaf destruction occurs. As a result, at best, the trees lose their crowns, and at worst, the harvest.
