At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 25, Primov expressed his concern about the shrinking water body. He noted that the shoreline of the lake has shifted and its water volume has significantly decreased.

According to the deputy, if urgent actions are not taken, Kyrgyzstan may face serious environmental consequences. Previously, about 80 rivers flowed into Issyk-Kul, but now only about 30 do. "It is necessary to pay attention to this problem. I propose to create a separate agency or department that will focus on the preservation of Lake Issyk-Kul and interact with international donors to attract funding and implement various activities," he added.
