The proposal is aimed at supporting the textile industry
During the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the bill was presented by the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev.
Deputy Dastan Bekeshev suggested considering the idea of growing industrial cannabis, which could be used in the textile sector.
“Industrial cannabis can become a raw material for the production of fabrics, clothing, bags, and other products. We already have sewing workshops. This product is in demand in Russia. It is necessary to establish clothing production from our own raw materials,” he noted.
In response to a question about the implementation of this initiative, Zhanibek Kerimaliev stated that corresponding changes to the legislation would be necessary.
“The issue of industrial cannabis will be discussed separately. We will return to this topic,” he added.
