The new project aims to address the shortage of parking spaces in the capital
The authorities of Bishkek have presented a draft presidential decree for public discussion, which concerns the launch of a pilot initiative to create parking spaces on the land plots of individual residential houses.
The initiators emphasize that this measure is intended to eliminate the serious problem of parking space shortages in the city, which forces drivers to leave their cars in a chaotic manner on sidewalks, in the roadway, and on lawns.
The pilot project is planned to run from March 1, 2026, to February 1, 2027. Homeowners will have the opportunity to organize parking zones on their plots.
If the project is successfully implemented, the authorities may consider the possibility of introducing this norm on a permanent basis.
