The second quarter of 2026 will be the time when the Department of Security and Escort of the State Penitentiary Service (GSIN) begins the procurement of beef. The corresponding tender has already been announced.

According to information posted on the government procurement portal, a sum of 13.3 million soms has been allocated for this purpose. It is planned to purchase 19 tons of first-category meat, which means that the price per kilogram will be 700 soms.

The technical specifications outline strict quality requirements for the meat: it must be fresh, free of unpleasant odors and slime. Any remnants of internal organs, skin, blood, contamination, as well as ice and snow, are prohibited. The meat must be delivered in the form of a carcass, half-carcass, or quarter with the appropriate veterinary and sanitary inspection stamp.

The acceptance of proposals from suppliers will last until March 16.

It was previously reported that the GSIN had already faced problems: as a result of purchasing fish at inflated prices for convicts and detainees, a loss of 15.9 million soms was incurred, leading to the initiation of a criminal case.
