According to their data, from March 5 to March 10, worsening weather conditions are expected in the mountains, which may increase the risk of avalanche formation. Icy conditions are also possible on the roads.
“The most critical situation is developing on the 294-304 kilometers of the Bishkek — Naryn — Torugart highway, especially in the area of the Kara-Unkur gorge. An avalanche has already occurred there today. Road services responded immediately and cleared the highway, restoring traffic in both directions,” the press release states.
Drivers are strongly advised to avoid long trips. It is important to strictly adhere to traffic rules and speed limits on this section of the road. Additionally, it is advisable to prepare anti-skid chains and maintain a distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles.
