Storm Warning: Avalanches and Ice Expected on Mountain Roads in Kyrgyzstan

From March 5 to 10, snow avalanches, snow drifts, ice, and road icing are forecasted in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan.

According to Kyrgyzhydromet, the following roads are expected to have a risk of avalanches:

- from 121 to 138 km of the Bishkek—Osh highway (Töö-Ashuu pass) and from 198 to 265 km (Ala-Bel pass, Chychkan gorge);

- from 55 to 115 km of the Myrza-Ake—Kara-Kulja—Alaiku road;

- from 45 to 112 km of the Ala-Buka—Kanysh-Kyya highway (Chapchyma pass);

- from 0 to 3 km of the Krasnaya Gorka—Ak-Tash road;

- from 292 to 305 km on the Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart route (Dolon pass);

- from 201 to 205, 260 to 290, and 326 to 249 km of the Balikchy—Kazarmin—Jalal-Abad road (Kok-Art pass);

- from 45 to 90 km of the Karakol—Enilchek highway (Chong-Ashuu pass).

When traveling through dangerous sections of the roads, it is strongly recommended to maintain a distance of 500 meters between vehicles.
