Storm Warning: Avalanche Risk and Icy Conditions Expected from February 23 to 26

From February 23 to 26, there is a forecast of avalanche danger in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the occurrence of snow drifts and ice, according to information from Kyrgyzhydromet.

Adverse weather conditions are expected on the following sections of highways:

— Bishkek — Osh, from 121 to 138 km (Töö-Ashuu Pass);

— Bishkek — Osh, from 198 to 265 km (Ala-Bel Pass, Chychkan Gorge);

— Myrza-Ake — Kara-Kulja — Alayku, from 55 to 115 km;

— Ala-Buka — Kanysh-Kiya, from 45 to 112 km (Chapchyma Pass);

— Krasnaya Gorka — Akhtash, from 0 to 3 km;

— Sary-Tash — Daroot-Korgon — Karamyk, 97–98 km;

— Bishkek — Naryn — Torugart, from 292 to 305 km (Dolon Pass);

— Aral — Ming-Kush, from 1 to 14 km;

— Aral — Suusamyr, from 8 to 21 km;

— Balikchy — Kazarman — Jalal-Abad, 201–205 km, 260–290 km, and 326–349 km (Kök-Art Pass);

— Karakol — Enilchek, from 45 to 90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass).

Drivers are strongly advised to be especially cautious in areas prone to avalanche danger and to maintain a distance of 500 meters between vehicles.

Forecasters recommend taking weather conditions into account when planning trips to mountainous areas.
