On February 28, Israel and the USA began bombings against Iran. Donald Trump announced his goal to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

In response, Iran launched attacks on Israeli territory and other countries in the Middle East where US military bases are located. Strikes were carried out on Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai (UAE), as well as Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

As a result of the strike by American-Israeli forces, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. His wife, Mansure Khodjaste, died from injuries sustained in the attack.

Trump stated that the military operation in Iran would last about four weeks. Iran, in turn, declared jihad against the USA and Israel, stating that negotiations are unacceptable.

The conflict in the Middle East has global consequences, affecting Kyrgyzstan as well. Currently, thousands of tourists are stranded in the UAE due to the conflict. Contacts for embassies and consulates for Kyrgyz citizens abroad can be found here.
