The ministry refuted rumors that the salary increase only applies to teachers of STEM subjects, while teachers of history, Kyrgyz language, and geography would remain unchanged. There is also no reason to believe that the number of class hours for these subjects will be reduced.
The ministry adheres to the principle that every teacher performs an important state task by educating the new generation.
It was previously stated that the salaries of education workers would increase by 100% from the current level.
According to the president, the average salary of teachers in the country is 26,000 soms, and after the increase, which will take effect on April 1, 2026, it will rise to approximately 40,000 soms. In remote areas, a teacher with higher education, whose current earnings are 65,800 soms, will receive 80,800 soms after the increase.
As of today, the minimum salary for a teacher in Kyrgyzstan is 12,000 soms, while the maximum is 72,000 soms.
The amount of salary depends on the level of education, the region of work, the number of class hours, workload, experience, and the presence of additional payments for class leadership and grading notebooks.
