Bishkek has 119 general education schools, employing 10,197 teachers.
This summer, officials already raised the issue of staff shortages, stating that there is a lack of about 300 teachers. They promised to resolve the vacancy issue by September.
However, data presented by the Ministry of Education through the automated information system "Mugalim" indicates a higher number of vacancies. In the republic, there are a total of 761 vacant positions, of which 143 are in Bishkek.
The highest number of free positions for teachers is recorded in the Chuy region — 276 vacancies.
In other regions, the situation is as follows: in the Batken region — 127, in the Issyk-Kul region — 68, in the Jalal-Abad region — 65, in the Osh region — 55, in the Talas region — 21, in the Naryn region — 4, and in the city of Osh — 2.
