46-year-old Tariel Sagaziev from the village of Kök-Sai in the Aitmatov district of the Talas region is a senior inspector in the public safety service of the Talas region's Internal Affairs Department.

“I started working in the police in 2007. I was 28 years old then. After finishing school, I went to Bishkek to prepare documents for admission with the intention of studying to become a police officer. I only had the medical examination left. But due to family circumstances, I had to return to the village. It was very disappointing at that time. As time went by, I got involved in entrepreneurship.

After some time, I obtained a higher legal education. In 2007, I completed a 3-month course at the Republican Training Center named after Major General of Police Zh. Shabirov. That was when I first put on a police uniform. I can't describe the feelings I experienced then. I looked at myself in the mirror, feeling proud and anxious. I started in the patrol service and then moved to the investigative department,” he shared.

Sagaziev recounted some cases from his practice:

“In 2010, during the revolution, we spotted a guy who had been wanted for a long time. We picked up his trail and detained him.

A few years ago, in the Bakai-Ata district, we searched for over a week in the mountains for a man who worked at a local mining site. He left work and went missing. I remember how we froze in the mountains while searching for him. In the end, we found the man's body when the snow melted — 1 km above his workplace. It was suspected that he fell asleep and froze to death, as there were no signs of violent death on his body. We checked various versions of the cause of the man's death, including those related to his work.

Once, I was on duty in the city of Talas. Our officer saw a guy doing something near a transformer next to a multi-story building. He reported it to us and began watching the guy. It turned out he was robbing a computer club, pulling out equipment from there. When we arrived, the guy tried to run away. We chased him and caught him. The owner of the computer club found out about the incident in the morning and was shocked. He was very grateful to us. It turned out that the windows in the club were old. The thief entered through there.”

Tariel, along with his wife, is raising two daughters and a son who is a student. One of the daughters also plans to become a police officer. The family lives in the city of Talas.
