Akhmatbek Keldibekov is a well-known politician and public figure who has held numerous high positions in the financial sector and parliament throughout his career. He was the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the 5th convocation, as well as the head of the Social Fund and tax authorities, and was elected as a deputy multiple times.In 2022, a court in the Pervomaisky district of Bishkek acquitted Keldibekov on three charges related to corruption and abuse of power after the Supreme Court overturned previous court decisions and sent the case for a new trial.
As of September 2024, it became known that he had stepped down from his position as president of the Federation of Weightlifting of Kyrgyzstan. In August 2025, buildings in the water protection zone were demolished in Osh, including the restaurant "Baysan," which was linked to Keldibekov's name.
