The President commented on the resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev
In an interview with the National Information Agency Kabar, President Sadyr Japarov discussed the recent resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev and the situation related to the "letter from 75 people." He noted that the decision to dismiss the head of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) was made in the interest of the country's stability.
On Tashiev's resignation
According to the president, in 2021, the people entrusted him with leading the country, and the Constitution places the responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the state and unity among citizens on him.
“The interests of the state and the people must always be above personal ambitions and friendships,” he added.
Sadyr Japarov pointed out that initially, tensions arose in the Jogorku Kenesh, where some parliamentary groups began to divide their colleagues into "us" and "them."
“Some groups started calling deputies and asking: ‘Are you with us or with the other side?’ There were talks about the existence of a ‘general’s side’ and a ‘president’s side,’” he said.
According to him, this division soon extended beyond the parliament: some elders began gathering signatures for early elections, claiming that it had been agreed upon "from above."
The president noted that he had evidence of pressure on deputies and officials:
“Some were threatened: ‘If you don’t switch to our side, you will face the general.’ If I hadn’t taken urgent measures, the split could have affected ordinary citizens, and that’s why I made this decision,” he explained.
Sadyr Japarov added that before the resignation, he personally spoke with Kamchybek Tashiev:
“I called my friend and explained the situation, informing him of my decision to remove him from office. I believe that with such a swift decision, I protected him, as ‘elders’ were gathering around him, distracting him from the right path,” the president noted.
He also emphasized that some individuals, hiding behind Tashiev, were trying to persuade deputies and public figures to switch “to the general’s side.” Japarov added that without his decision, these processes would have only intensified, potentially leading to a split in society and even confrontation.
Commenting on rumors about supposedly existing “Japarov teams” and “Tashiev teams,” the president stated:
“Personnel appointments are not divided into groups. Each appointment undergoes thorough scrutiny.”
He also denied rumors of any agreements regarding the terms of the presidency, noting that in a democratic country, decisions are made not by a small group of people, but by the entire people of Kyrgyzstan.
Regarding the "letter from 75 people"
The departure of the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh
As for the departure of the speaker of parliament, Japarov noted that he would not directly link this decision to the letter. He suggested that Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu might have succumbed to the influence of certain individuals or felt responsible for the division among deputies.
Reform of the GKNB
The president also announced a reform of the GKNB, emphasizing that the special services must adapt to modern challenges:
“The state is a living organism, and our institutions must renew themselves along with the world.”
Discussing possible abuses by law enforcement officers, the president stated that there is no practice of covering up illegal actions in the country. If the facts are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable, as everyone is equal before the law.
Personal relations with Tashiev
In response to a question about his relationship with Kamchybek Tashiev, the president noted:
“Our friendship will remain. I made this decision for the peace and unity of our people.”
In conclusion, Sadyr Japarov assured that the fight against corruption and crime will continue on an ongoing basis.
