Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan intend to increase trade turnover to $500 million

Negotiations between the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan


During his working visit, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, met with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev. This meeting took place within the framework of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the two countries, as reported by the press service of the Government of Kyrgyzstan.

Kasymaliev emphasized that resolving border issues has become a significant event, creating a reliable foundation for further strengthening relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He also noted that developing ties with Tajikistan is a key direction of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.

According to information, by the end of 2023, the trade turnover between the two states amounted to only $36 million, which is a significant increase of almost 24 times compared to the previous period. In this regard, both sides have set an ambitious goal to increase this figure to $500 million.

Kohir Rasulzoda expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and confirmed Tajikistan's readiness to implement joint projects. During the negotiations, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in various areas, including trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian.
