At the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council in Bishkek, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, expressed the country's readiness to become a "trade gateway" for Tajik goods, providing access to the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union through the GSP+ system.

Kasymaliev also noted that the implementation of a large-scale infrastructure project for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will significantly enhance the country's transit potential and strengthen it as an important logistics center on the Eurasian continent, opening new horizons for Tajikistan.

He emphasized that 2025 will be an important milestone in Kyrgyz-Tajik relations, highlighting the high level of political dialogue and the desire to create a stable system of interstate relations.

“Based on centuries-old friendship and good neighborliness, our peoples have reached a qualitatively new level of interaction, which occupies a significant place in Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy. The successful completion of the border delimitation process has made an important contribution to strengthening security in both our countries and in the region. I hope that the demarcation process of the remaining sections of the border will be completed soon,” he added.

Kasymaliev also mentioned that the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council will serve as an important tool for deepening cooperation and implementing all agreements reached at the level of state leaders.

In the field of trade, he expressed readiness to increase the supply volumes of dairy products, textiles, coal, glass products, and sugar.

In accordance with the instructions of the heads of the two states to increase trade turnover, Kasymaliev proposed to develop a "roadmap" that will include specific steps, responsible parties, and stages of implementation. In addition, the Kyrgyz side expressed the idea of opening Trade Houses in both countries to improve interaction between entrepreneurs and create sustainable sales channels.

Discussing transport and logistics cooperation, he emphasized the need to modernize border infrastructure and improve the operation of control points. This includes expanding throughput capacity, developing logistics terminals, and implementing digital solutions in customs administration.

Kasymaliev noted positive dynamics in the tourism sector, reporting that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan was visited by 86,000 tourists from Tajikistan — a 12-fold increase compared to 2024.

The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in implementing joint tourism projects, including the introduction of a unified visa for citizens of third countries traveling in Central Asia.

He also announced plans to hold Tajikistan Culture Days in Kyrgyzstan in May of this year, which should contribute to deepening cultural exchange.

Kasymaliev invited the Tajik delegation to participate in the Sixth World Nomad Games, which will take place in Kyrgyzstan.

In conclusion of his speech, the Chairman of the Cabinet confirmed the Kyrgyz side's readiness to implement all agreements reached within the framework of the Intergovernmental Council.

The Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, in turn, noted the importance of developing good neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.

He emphasized that the Intergovernmental Council will become an effective platform for promoting joint initiatives and expanding trade and economic ties, as well as for cooperation in key areas such as energy, transport, and agriculture.

Rasulzoda confirmed readiness to implement all agreements reached and continue developing the partnership with Kyrgyzstan.

At the meeting, plans were outlined for promoting the agreements reached and expanding cooperation in various fields. The parties expressed confidence that today's meeting would serve as a catalyst for activating interaction between the two countries.

As a result of the meeting, a Protocol of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Export Development and Promotion Center "Kyrgyz Export" and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan were signed.
