
Kasymaliev noted that resolving border issues is an important step towards strengthening friendly and good-neighborly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He emphasized that deepening cooperation with Tajikistan is a priority for Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.
According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, in 2025, both countries plan to focus efforts on restoring and activating trade, economic, and cultural ties, as well as improving the lives of the population in border areas. Additionally, he reported that last year, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to only $36 million, but in 2024 it increased nearly 24 times.
Kasymaliev also noted that the leaders of the two states set an ambitious goal to increase the trade turnover to $500 million and expressed confidence in achieving this goal.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, thanked the Kyrgyz side for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the intergovernmental council meeting for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Rasulzoda noted that the development of good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan is a key direction of Tajikistan's foreign policy, and the Tajik side is ready to implement the set tasks.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of relevant issues concerning bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, economy, culture, and humanitarian relations.
