During the third reading, the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh approved the bill concerning the ratification of the Extradition Treaty between Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, which was signed on July 21, 2025, in Bishkek.

This agreement establishes the legal framework for the extradition of wanted persons for the purpose of criminal prosecution or the enforcement of judicial decisions. After ratification, the countries will be able to officially begin the extradition and transfer procedures for convicts within the framework of international cooperation.

It is worth noting that there are two citizens of Mongolia in Kyrgyzstan's correctional facilities, while Kyrgyz citizens are absent in Mongolian prisons. Despite this, Mongolia has sent requests for the extradition of convicts, highlighting the need to establish a legal basis for the exchange of prisoners.
