The committee emphasized the importance of the role of judges and the prosecutor's office
In response to the initiative of former deputy Iskhak Masaliev to review criminal cases, the GKNB reminded that only courts have the right to review and annul sentences. The prosecutor's office, in turn, is responsible for examining and overturning procedural decisions made by investigators.
The idea of creating a commission to review criminal cases, according to the committee, violates the fundamental principles of the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution.
It is worth noting that Iskhak Masaliev proposed the review of high-profile criminal cases that have been considered by the GKNB in the last five years.
