Five years have passed since Sadyr Japarov took office, and during this time not only has the agenda changed, but also the very structure of power, where personal agreements and allies play a significant role. In the run-up to the elections, society is beginning to actively discuss not only the results of the government's work but also possible changes in relationships among key political figures.
Amid this, former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Iskhak Masaliev shared his thoughts on the political situation in an interview with the BBC. He noted that the alliance between Sadyr Japarov and Kamchybek Tashiev has a solid foundation, and also discussed possible disagreements and their impact on future political developments. In his opinion, personal trust and a common political course are the defining factors in the stability of the current government.
“It is inappropriate to compare them with the tandem of Almazbek Atambayev and Sooronbay Jeenbekov. The former came together against the backdrop of power and public events, while these two united in difficult times and went through significant events together. I am confident that they will not part ways and will maintain good relations. Perhaps one of them will step back from active politics while the other remains, but there will be no conflicts between them,” Masaliev emphasized.
Although nothing is eternal in politics and disagreements may arise, the foundation of their relationship will remain friendly. As Masaliev reported, there are occasional disputes and differences of opinion between them, which is quite normal since they are not relatives. Such situations have occurred in the past as well.
As a deputy, he had the opportunity to work with both and knows how things stand from the inside. Currently, each of them occupies their position, and there is mutual respect between them, which will not lead to open conflict.
With the presidential elections approaching, the public is showing great interest in the political situation. Many are wondering who will become the next president and how Japarov and Tashiev will defend their positions in politics.
According to Masaliev, Tashiev is already prepared for the upcoming elections and may be purposefully moving towards this goal. In politics, it often happens that what a person publicly renounces later becomes relevant for them. Tashiev has repeatedly emphasized that he does not aspire to the presidency, but such statements may change,” he added.
