Jeenbek Kulubaev met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres

On February 23, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Zheenbek Kulubaev, met with Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The meeting took place against the backdrop of a disarmament conference in which he was participating and was covered by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the discussion, the parties addressed the current state of their collaboration and its future prospects.

Both sides confirmed the importance of the UN's role in strengthening peace and responding to international challenges, expressing their readiness for further productive cooperation. Attention was focused on the "UN-80" initiative aimed at enhancing the organization's effectiveness and modernization. Support for the ongoing reforms was also expressed, along with a willingness to cooperate in their implementation. The Kyrgyz side noted active cooperation with various UN agencies in Kyrgyzstan.

Additionally, Kyrgyzstan presented information about the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which will take place in 2026, as well as about the VI World Nomad Games. Zheenbek Kulubaev invited the Secretary-General to visit the country to participate in these events and to prepare for the "Bishkek+25" summit scheduled for 2027.
