A new bridge over the Naryn River is planned to be constructed on the Bishkek - Osh highway. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will allocate a grant of $20.5 million for this project. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Janibekov at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to issues of industrial policy, transport, energy, architecture, and construction.

According to Janibekov, the existing bridge was built 50 years ago, and its operational lifespan has expired. Additionally, due to the implementation of the Kambaratinskaya HPP construction project, the load on the bridge will increase as transport carrying large cargo will pass through it.

The committee approved the ratification of the grant agreement between the government of Kyrgyzstan and Japan. It is expected that this week the document will be submitted for consideration in parliament.

The project is supported by JICA with the aim of improving transport links on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
