Japan will grant Kyrgyzstan $11.6 million for medical equipment.

The Deputy Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Temirbek Erkinov, reported at a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide the country with a grant of $11.6 million.

These funds will be used to improve the equipment of reference hospitals in Osh, which serve residents of the entire southern region of Kyrgyzstan.

As part of this grant, it is planned to purchase modern medical equipment, including an angiographic complex, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, a mammograph for breast disease diagnosis, and X-ray machines.

The draft agreement between the government of Kyrgyzstan and Japan has been approved by the committee on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues of the Jogorku Kenesh. It is expected that this week the document will be presented at a plenary session of parliament.
