At today's session of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed to abandon strict dress codes in both educational institutions and government bodies.

He noted that the current rules regarding uniforms have received numerous complaints, especially from the regions. "Students need to wear uniforms, and I receive many requests stating that such clothing is uncomfortable. It's hot in summer, and in winter it is also uncomfortable. Traffic jams in the city make traveling in such attire even more difficult. We are simply making children suffer. In China, for example, students are allowed to wear sports suits, as this is much more convenient," the deputy pointed out.

However, Bekeshev emphasized that he does not intend to completely abolish school uniforms to avoid a situation where children come in untidy clothing. "I urge the government to reconsider the dress code and allow children to wear more comfortable clothes, such as sweaters, t-shirts, and jeans, that is, casual style," he added.

The deputy also called for a relaxation of strict clothing requirements in parliament and other government institutions.

“We are required to wear jackets and ties, which has remained since Soviet times. The security also strictly monitors compliance with the dress code for visitors to parliament. This was not the case before, and I believe that guests should not be checked so rigorously. It is important to meet people based on their knowledge, not their clothing. I suggest the government conduct a survey among students and change the existing practice,” Bekeshev concluded.

It is worth noting that the deputy himself spoke from the podium today without a jacket, in a shirt and vest.
