The CSTO expressed serious concern over the massive strikes on Iran

The CSTO Secretariat has expressed its concern regarding the start of large-scale airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel in Iran. The organization noted that reports of civilian casualties raise serious alarms.

CSTO representatives emphasize that the current situation poses a significant threat of potential conflict escalation and agree with the critical assessment made by the UN Secretary-General. They insist that the only way out of this situation is an urgent return to political dialogue between the parties. The statement highlights the necessity of resolving the conflict in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.

It should be noted that on February 28, a joint operation by the air forces of the US and Israel began, targeting government buildings and key facilities in Tehran. As a result of the attacks, high-ranking Iranian leaders were eliminated, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Commander of the IRGC Mohammad Pakpour, and Secretary of the Defense Council Ali Shamkhani.

On the morning of March 1, Iranian state media confirmed the information about the deaths of the country's leadership and announced a 40-day mourning period. Currently, the country is being managed by a temporary council, while the international community and various organizations continue to express concern over the possibility of a full-scale war in the region.
