According to information from the Fars state agency, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been elected as the new Supreme Leader of Iran. This decision was announced by the Assembly of Experts.

It should be noted that information about his election surfaced on March 4. However, the authorities in Tehran denied this information, stating that a final decision would be made on March 8. Ayatollah Hossein Mozaffari emphasized in an interview with journalists that the Assembly of Experts had not convened until now and urged Iranians not to succumb to rumors about the new leader of the country.

The 56-year-old Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei is a Shia spiritual leader and the second son of Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the orders of the United States. He is considered one of the most influential figures in the Iranian political and religious elite and has long worked in the circle of the Supreme Leader, maintaining close ties with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
