
On March 9, the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh responsible for science, education, information technology, culture, sports, and youth affairs discussed and approved in the first reading a draft law concerning amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Television and Radio Broadcasting." The press service of the parliament reported this event.
The draft law was initiated by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev noted that the main task of the proposed changes is to adapt the provisions of the law "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" to the new version of the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as to the Law "On Mass Media," which will come into force on August 6, 2025.
In particular, it is planned to replace the mention of the "Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Electric and Postal Communications" with the "Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic."
During the discussion, deputies, including Seidbek Atambaev, Gulsharkan Kultaev, and Saltanat Amanova, raised numerous questions, focusing on aspects such as the reliability, objectivity, and quality of information disseminated through the media.
Additionally, Saltanat Amanova raised the issue of the need to increase salaries for employees of state print media and to address the housing problems faced by workers in this sector.
