The government of Kyrgyzstan has updated the decree from April 11, 2016, No. 201, concerning public health aspects.

According to the new rules, the sale of food products that are harmful to health will be prohibited within a radius of 100 meters from schools.

Additionally, the changes also pertain to the requirements for the infrastructure of educational institutions. In conditions of limited space and dense construction, the construction of four-story buildings is permitted, where the top floor can accommodate service, recreational areas, and offices for working with students, including a psychologist, speech therapist, and social educator.

Requirements for schools located in converted buildings are also clarified. Such institutions must have classrooms, cafeterias, medical offices, rest areas, administrative and utility rooms, as well as sanitary facilities and cloakrooms.

Interesting facts
In 2026, the construction of 25 new schools and 7 educational buildings is planned in Bishkek.
It is also permitted to use basement floors for organizing cafeterias, libraries, sports, dance, and assembly halls, provided that sanitary, ventilation, and fire safety standards are met.

It is recommended to allocate separate changing rooms and toilets for boys and girls in sports halls. Showers can be installed if the building has the appropriate conditions. If a school does not have its own gym, it is allowed to use nearby sports facilities.

The new rules will come into effect in 15 days.
