The Supreme Court has sent the case of Mahabat Tajibek kyzy for a new review

In Kyrgyzstan, the Supreme Court has decided to reconsider the case of journalist Mahabat Tajibek kyzy, who is the wife of renowned investigator Bolot Temirov.

According to information, the judicial panel decided to return the case materials to the district court for a new analysis, overturning all previously issued decisions from three judicial instances. Additionally, the composition of the court will be changed.

Mahabat Tajibek kyzy heads the Temirov LIVE project. She was detained in January 2024 along with other members of the Temirov LIVE media projects and "Ait ait dese," and they were charged with organizing mass riots.





On October 10, 2024, the Leninsky District Court of Bishkek sentenced her to six years in prison. Later, the Bishkek City Court upheld this sentence, and in February 2025, the Supreme Court confirmed the decisions of the lower instances.

After that, the defense filed a petition for a review of the case due to newly discovered circumstances. As a result, the Supreme Court decided to return the case for reconsideration to the district court.

Previously, international human rights organizations and representatives of the media community advocated for the review of the journalist's sentence.
