Askhat Alagozov, the press secretary of the president, explained on social media the reasons why Urmatbek Shamyurkanov was relieved of his duties as Minister of Emergency Situations.
According to him, the dismissal is related to suspicions of receiving a bribe while Shamyurkanov was working as Deputy Minister.
“Urmatbek Shamyurkanov has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Emergency Situations. The reason for this was suspicions of his involvement in bribery,” Alagozov noted.
According to available information, in the summer of 2025, Shamyurkanov allegedly requested money for assistance in promoting one of the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This employee claims that he transferred half of the agreed amount to the electronic wallet of the then Deputy Minister.
After Shamyurkanov became the minister, the employee reported that he would not be able to transfer the remaining part of the money, after which he was transferred to work in the Batken region.
The affected employee turned to President Sadyr Japarov, who instructed the General Prosecutor's Office to conduct an investigation into this matter. As a result of the investigation, the facts were confirmed.
The president noted that this serves as confirmation of the well-known saying: “An unclean deed will become evident even after forty years.” He emphasized that currently, illegal actions can be identified much faster, and this should serve as a lesson for all public servants,” he added.
