The release of Urmatbek Shamyrkanov from the position of Minister of Emergency Situations was confirmed by the press secretary of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Askat Alagozov. The reason for the dismissal was allegations of bribery when he held the position of Deputy Minister.

Alagozov reported that in the summer of 2025, Shamyrkanov requested money for facilitating the promotion of one of the ministry's employees. According to this employee, he transferred half of the agreed amount to Shamyrkanov's electronic wallet, but after Shamyrkanov was appointed as minister, he was unable to deliver the remaining part. In response, Shamyrkanov transferred him to the Batken region.

The employee transferred to Batken appealed to President Sadyr Japarov with a statement, and he instructed the General Prosecutor's Office to conduct an investigation. As a result of the investigation, the facts outlined in the statement were confirmed. Consequently, the president decided to relieve Shamyrkanov of his position, emphasizing that this serves as confirmation of the well-known saying: "An unclean deed will become evident even after forty years," noted Alagozov.

Alagozov also added that currently, unlawful actions are being uncovered significantly faster than before, and this should serve as a lesson for all public servants.

He emphasized that if facts of corruption are revealed, the authorities will not ignore them, even if it concerns recently appointed high-ranking officials, as the dismissal of such individuals should not jeopardize the reputation of the state.

It should be noted that Urmatbek Shamyrkanov was appointed as minister on February 16, 2025, replacing Boobek Azhikeev.
