According to information provided by Zhenishbek Mukambetov, head of the Social Fund's public relations department, starting from January 1, 2026, citizens will need at least 6 years of work experience to qualify for retirement. These changes have become part of the legislation that was updated in 2024.

Previously, women aged 58 and men aged 63 were required to have 20 years of experience, and those with insufficient experience were assigned a partial pension. As of July 1, 2024, the 20-year experience requirement was abolished, and a new requirement was introduced: the minimum experience for receiving a full pension is now 5 years.

Mukambetov also added that the minimum experience will be increased in the future. Every two years, one year will be added to it, and by 2045 it will reach 20 years, after which no further increases are planned.

It is important to note that when calculating work experience, not only entries in the employment record book are taken into account. Periods of military service, maternity leave, and other time intervals provided by law can also be added to the experience.
