In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, the employees of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate detained a man suspected of extortion.
According to law enforcement agencies, on January 19, 2026, a citizen B.D. reported that unknown individuals were threatening him and demanding payment of 150,000 Russian rubles, referring to a debt of his girlfriend.
In connection with this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 208, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning extortion.
As a result of operational activities, the suspect was identified — 29-year-old Ch.T. He was caught in the act during the transfer of 80,000 soms, which he demanded from the victim.
After the detention, Ch.T. was sent to the investigative unit of the Internal Affairs Department of the October District, where he was placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Currently, further investigative actions are being carried out in the case.
