Georgy Georgievich Petrashov, an outstanding figure in Kyrgyz cycling, passed away at the age of 88, as reported by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The sports family of Kyrgyzstan and the international community have suffered a great loss. Georgy Georgievich left a significant mark in the history of sports, being an Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and a distinguished coach who dedicated his life to the development of cycling in the country.
For 13 years, he led the cycling team of the Kyrgyz SSR, laying the foundations for future successes. Even after retirement, Georgy Georgievich represented Kyrgyzstan at the World Championships for veterans, proving that a true champion knows no age.
His legacy continues through his son Evgeny Petrashov and grandson Denis Petrashov, who have successfully competed on the international stage, continuing the sporting tradition of the family.
The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic expresses its deepest condolences to all the relatives and loved ones of Georgy Georgievich Petrashov.
His memory will forever remain in the annals of Kyrgyz sports.
