At the time of his death, he was 88 years old.
Georgy Petrashov was not only an honored coach of the Kyrgyz SSR but also an honorary master of sports of the USSR.
“For many years, he led the cycling team of the Kyrgyz SSR, trained a whole generation of outstanding cyclists, and made a significant contribution to the development of the national cycling school,” the official statement notes.
In addition, Georgy Petrashov is the father of Evgeny Petrashov, the head coach of the Kyrgyz national swimming team, and the grandfather of Denis Petrashov.
