It became known that Kamchybek Tashiev was relieved of his position as head of the GKNB, which led to the suspension of his subordinates at all levels, including Eldar Jakypbekov, who was immediately detained, as well as Salmoora Jumabekov. Soon after these events, the prosecutor's office began receiving appeals from citizens engaged in business, as well as from various officials.
According to sources, last week about 500 people filed complaints, pointing to abuses by GKNB employees. All statements are currently under review.
On February 10, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, signed a decree relieving Kamchybek Tashiev of his duties as Deputy Prime Minister and head of the State Committee for National Security.
Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov was appointed as the acting head of the GKNB.
Three deputies of the GKNB chairman were also dismissed by the authorities.
On February 14, there was a change in the position of head of the Main Directorate of the GKNB for Bishkek: Ulan Biibosunov was appointed instead of Eldar Jakypbekov. On February 15, Jakypbekov was detained.
On February 16, Salmoora Jumabekov was relieved of his duties as head of the GKNB Main Directorate for Osh and the Osh region.
